Level 7 Diploma in Immersive Software Engineering

Overview

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Immersive Software Engineering equips learners to design, develop, and evaluate immersive software systems, enhancing skills in Web and Cloud Technologies, Security, Automation, Data Analytics, and Project Management. Emphasizing practical, industry-relevant expertise, it cultivates critical thinking and research abilities to tackle complex software engineering challenges. This diploma prepares learners to apply their skills professionally, advance their careers, or pursue further studies. It is part of OTHM's Level 7 qualifications focused on building professional competencies in the field.

To join the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Immersive Software Engineering, applicants should meet one of the following criteria:

· An honours degree in a relevant subject, a UK Level 6 diploma, or an equivalent overseas qualification

· Mature learners with management experience (learners should verify this with us before registering)

· Be at least 21 years old at the course start

English Requirements: Applicants from non-majority English-speaking countries must provide proof of English proficiency.

Alternative professional qualifications with a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience in public service or related fields may also be considered. Relevant experience may include roles in local or national government, non-governmental or inter-governmental organisations, voluntary and charitable sectors, or private sector roles supporting public services.

The OTHM Level 7 diplomas are equivalent in level to master’s degrees on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). However, they are shorter (120 credits); learners need to complete a dissertation (60 credits) with a university to achieve a full master’s qualification.

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Immersive Software Engineering consists of six mandatory units, totalling 120 credits, with 1,200 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).

Mandatory Units:

· Security Engineering (20 credits)

· Software Programming Principles and Practices in Java I (20 credits)

· Agile Project Management (20 credits)

· Cloud Computing & DevOps (20 credits)

· Database & SQL Programming (20 credits)

· Web Designing (20 credits)

The qualification is structured to be completed over six months, allowing flexibility to accommodate different learning modes, including full-time, part-time, or distance learning.

Delivery can be face-to-face through lectures, tutorials, and seminars, or online. We ensure the delivery method provides an inclusive and equitable learning experience, promoting equal opportunities and addressing potential barriers.

Each unit within this qualification is assessed internally by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. The qualification is criterion-referenced, meaning learners must achieve all specified learning outcomes to pass each unit.

To pass, learners must provide evidence showing they have met the assessment criteria. Assessors make judgments based on this evidence and keep an audit trail documenting their assessment decisions.

Detailed assessment guidance and marking criteria for each unit are provided in the Assignment Brief document, available to you after your enrollment.

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Immersive Software Engineering enables learners to advance in their careers or pursue further study.

As this qualification is Ofqual-approved and regulated, learners may also be eligible to progress to a master’s top-up programme at various universities in the UK and internationally with advanced standing. For more details visit our website or contact us.
